The deer of the earth

Through the graphic novel "As veas da terra", this project proposes an informative approach to the history of wine in Galicia during the period of splendor of the medieval Kingdom. The publication combines historical research and fictional account to explain how the expansion of viticulture, trade and international relations contributed to the economic and cultural development of the country between the 12th and 13th centuries.

The work places at the center of the narrative the role of wine as the backbone of Galician medieval society, connecting production areas, commercial towns and seaports that allowed the circulation of Galician wines through different European markets.

Through an accessible and visual plot, the novel introduces the public to historical figures, places and events related to the consolidation of the Kingdom of Galicia and the rise of economic activities linked to wine production and marketing.

The project is complemented by an important task of historical contextualization through maps, explanatory texts and informative materials that allow a better understanding of the evolution of the cities, trade routes, wine-growing areas and maritime connections of the time.

In addition, a dissemination campaign was developed aimed at both the cultural field and the wine sector, taking advantage of the capacity of this medium to reach diverse audiences. The initiative stands out for its innovative approach, using the comic strip format to disseminate rigorous historical knowledge in an engaging and accessible way. In this way, it contributes to strengthening the knowledge of the medieval Kingdom of Galicia and to highlight the role that wine has played as an economic, cultural and identity resource throughout our history.
