Chronicles of a memory

Audiovisual and digital dissemination project that explores the forgotten history of the medieval kingdom of Galicia.

A BooOSTAGRAMMER IRENE PEREZ (@surfeandoLibros) stars in a series of 12 audiovisual pills where it delves into the episodes and key figures of this historical stage, using a fresh and dynamic style to connect with a broad audience, especially with the youngest.

The initiative is part of the discovery of the book The medieval kingdom of Galicia. Chronicle Dunha Dismimoria (General, 2020), which awakens in Irene a questioning about the absence of this past in school content.

Through the videos, the creator recounts a history of hidden and fascinating Galicia, from the splendor of the Swedish kingdom to the Irmandiña Revolution, to the troubadour lyric, the references to Galicia in medieval European literature or the noble intrigue of figures such as Pedro Madruga and Pardode Cela.

One of the fundamental axes of the project is the recovery of the role of women, often doubly forgotten. Irene announces figures such as the writer Exeria, the soldier Maria Balteira, the queens Sancha, Dona Urraca, Godo and Berenguela, Princess Ximena or the legendary Queen Lupa.

The videos, between 2 and 3 minutes long, are edited with an attractive aesthetic and visual elements that reinforce the message, ensuring accessible and attractive diffusion through social networks. In addition, the project will have a web repository where the contents can be consulted once its dissemination is completed.

The goal of Chronicles of a memory It is to contribute to the recovery and normalization of this historical period in the Galician collective imagination, promoting a critical spirit on the hegemonic stories of the history of Spain and strengthening the feeling of belonging to a nation with its own identity.
