Laudatio Funebris in the Kingdom of Galicia. Of death, crying and the afterlife

Cultural project promoted by aCentral Folke that explores the symbolic, musical and heritage dimensions of death in medieval Galicia through research, artistic creation and public dissemination. The initiative seeks to recover and reinterpret the medieval sites linked to the Kingdom of Galicia, highlighting both historical figures and heritage sites of reference in Compostela and Noia.

The project was developed through a multidisciplinary program that combined cultural itineraries, early music concerts, editorial publications and informative materials. Among the actions carried out, the edition of the book stands out Laudatio Funebris. Of death, crying and afterlife in the Kingdom of Galicia, by Eva Moreda and Andrés Díaz, as well as the celebration of itineraries guided by Quico Cadaval in Compostela and Noia, focused on the medieval imagination of death and the main heritage spaces associated with this theme. These activities achieved a high level of public participation.

Another key focus was the performance of Grupo 1500 concerts under the program Cinco prantos para un Reino, performing medieval repertoire related to characters and episodes from Galician history.

The performances were held in San Domingos de Bonaval and Santa María a Nova de Noia, spaces of great historical and symbolic value. In addition, a disc recording was made distributed on digital platforms, expanding the scope of the project and guaranteeing its permanence over time.

The proposal stands out for its historiographic rigor, supported by a multidisciplinary team made up of researchers, musicians and cultural professionals specialized in the medieval period. The result is an initiative that combines tangible and intangible heritage, contemporary creation and cultural dissemination, contributing to the social diffusion of the Kingdom of Galicia and the valorization of its historical legacy from an innovative and accessible perspective for citizens.
