Transmedia Audiovisual Project promoted by GCiencia with the aim of disseminating the history of the Kingdom of Galicia among the youngest audience, especially the Z.
Through short videos on YouTube and Tiktok, the project addressed fifteen key topics in medieval and modern Galician history from a Galician and rigorous perspective, but with a casual and accessible tone.
Each chapter was developed as a dictionary entry, with an actress who performed the role of a teacher, combining clear explanations with a careful aesthetic and visual and narrative elements adapted to each platform.
The series presented topics such as the Swedish origin of Galicia, As Irmandiñas Revoltas, the figure of Ines de Castro, the troubadour lyric or heraldry, among others, offering an alternative view to the centralist historiographic story.
Complementing the videos, GCiencia has published written reports in informative and subtitled format, with accessibility and inclusive language measures. The project was attended by recognized historians and the endorsement of a journalistic team with a broad career in cultural and scientific dissemination.
The dissemination was done through the social networks of the platform and its associated means, with specific promotional campaigns and the scheduled launch of weekly content.
Through this innovative format, the Dictionary of Historical Galicia contributed to the recovery of the historical memory of the Kingdom of Galicia, putting the focus on the Galician identity, the role of women and the dissemination of a often silenced cultural heritage in official stories.
