The Reiciño de Galicia

Project that rescues and adapts to the comic strip a story by Victor Hugo on García II, the last king of Galicia. Posted within his work Magna The legend of centuries, the little king of Galicia It is inserted in the medievalist tradition of the romantic authors, presenting an epic and poetic history that exalts the classical struggle between good and evil.

In a Galicia in tension for staying as an independent kingdom, seven infants kidnap Nuno, the firstborn of King Garcia II. It will be an enigmatic French knight, named Roldán, who is embarking on a dizzying rescue adventure, leaving behind a trace of blood and betrayal. An account of action and honor that Inacio Vilariño and Iván Suárez have mastered the comic strip, maintaining the narrative strength and lyricism of Hugo's pen.

The project was materialized in a 52 -page -colored 52 -page comic book book, illustrated by Iván Suárez, winner of the Castelao de BD award in 2009.

Through the comic, it was sought to bring this story to the youth and adult audience, combining historical dissemination with a shocking visual narrative.

In addition to the publication, a 10 -minute informative documentary video was created with historical information, designed for social networks and schools, already available on the Youtube Editorial Demo channel.

A free -access didactic unit has also been developed, available for download on the publisher's website, to deepen the figure of King Garcia and the reinterpretation of the story by Victor Hugo.

Con The Reiciño da Galiza, a forgotten episode of our history has been recovered through a work that mixes lyricism and epic, becoming an authentic jewel of the Galician comic strip.
