    In permanent reform: monasticism in medieval Galicia

    Monasticism is a piece of singular importance in the study of the Middle Ages in Galicia. The fact that much of what we know of medieval Galicia depends on monastic documentation is, in itself, more than revealing.

    Throughout the medieval millennium monasticism goes through various phases and different models. In this contribution we will make a proposal for the periodization of the monastic history of medieval Galicia characterized by continuous changes and permanent reform.

    Titular Professor of Medieval History since 1995 (USC).

    Accredited to Professor since 2015.

    Much of his research and contributions are related to the world of medieval Galician monasticism and its impact on society.

    Co-author, with Anselmo López Carreira, of the book The medieval kingdom of Galicia: chronicle of a forgetfulness, Losada Dieguez Essay Award No 2020.
